Cyberspace can be a scary place for adults who grew up in an Internet free world. However, the Clarington Public Library offers a helping hand to 'computer confused' adults who want to wade into the World Wide Web.
The library offers free hands-on Internet training sessions for Clarington Public Library cardholders. Call Adult Services at 905-623-7322 x 731 for more information and to sign-up for these sessions, which run at the Bowmanville Branch.
The sessions cover a variety of subjects, including: - Move that Mouse: learn basic mouse and keyboarding skills - Internet Basics: Gain the skills you need to get comfortable being online - Search Tips & Techniques: Find what you need quickly with handy tips and tricks - Library Catalogue Online: Search for library items and learn how to reserve and renew items - Electronic Resources: learn how to read 1000s of magazines, newspapers and books online - Introduction to Email: set up and start using a Yahoo email account
For older adults with no experience using the Internet, the Clarington Public Library offers a special course. The 'Older Adults Online' course runs for four sessions over two weeks at the Bowmanville Branch. This free course is open to Clarington Public Library cardholders, but space is limited. Call Adult Services at 905-623-7322 x731 for more information.
